Patients might see us for further evaluation and treatment of swallowing problems, heartburn, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, rectal bleeding, and abnormal liver tests or for colon cancer screening. Evaluation of such problems is usually performed first by obtaining a history and performing a physical examination, and then if indicated by obtaining additional blood tests, radiological studies, or by performing an endoscopic examination.

Each physician at Gastroenterology Consultants of San Antonio is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and Subspecialty Board of Gastroenterology, which confirms the highest qualification and knowledge of the field of gastroenterology. In addition, all of our physicians regularly update their knowledge by attending and participating in continuing medical education programs both locally and nationally.
