Our staff is trained to evaluate and treat a full spectrum of gastroenterological problems. We begin by obtaining a medical history and performing a physical examination. From there, additional tests and examinations may be necessary to ensure the appropriate evaluation of your condition. At that point, you and your physician work together to develop the best course of action. Our Staff is qualified to perform a variety of procedures to meet patient's needs from esophageal pH monitoring to diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. Our Medicare approved, Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) is a fully accredited, modern and a patient-friendly endoscopy facility that is owned and supervised by our physicians. The center is licensed by the Texas Department of Health as an ambulatory surgical center and is also accredited by the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO), a professional recognition of the high quality of medical care offered there. Endoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure usually performed under moderate sedation that enables your physician to visualize the lining of your intestinal tract. The endoscope is a thin, flexible tube with its own fiberoptic light source and chip camera that transmits an image to a monitor. Not only does this offer high-quality inspection of your intestine, but also enables your physician to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures through the endoscope such as biopsy, polypectomy, or even laser ablation. This often eliminates the need for more invasive procedures such as surgery in many patients. Even though complications can occur, they are extremely rare, and endoscopy is felt, overall, to be a very safe procedure which can be easily performed in an outpatient setting. If your physician feels that an endoscopic procedure is required for diagnosis or treatment of your condition, he will carefully review the potential benefits, risks and alternatives with you. After an endoscopic test, your doctor will review the findings with you to discuss the results and, if necessary, the course of treatment. We offer below a brief overview of some of the more common endoscopic procedures and related topics. Please discuss all procedures fully with your physician so you understand your treatment and make informed decisions about your health care. To learn more about the procedures select below:
