Babusai Rapaka, MD
Dr. Babusai Rapaka is a San Antonio native and Mayo Clinic trained gastroenterologist with advanced training in therapeutic endoscopy. He provides comprehensive care across the spectrum of gastrointestinal and liver diseases, with a particular focus on colorectal cancer prevention.
Dr. Rapaka earned his medical degree from UT Health San Antonio before completing his Internal Medicine residency at Emory University. He then completed his Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where he was elected chief gastroenterology fellow. He subsequently pursued additional training in Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
His expertise includes colorectal cancer screening, inflammatory bowel disease, advanced polyp detection and removal, pancreatic and hepatobiliary disorders, and esophageal disorders. His advanced endoscopy training allows him to manage complex polyps and gastrointestinal lesions that may otherwise require referral to a specialized center.
Dr. Rapaka is particularly passionate about colorectal cancer prevention and believes that a high-quality screening colonoscopy is the most powerful tool to prevent colon cancer.
Dr. Rapaka combines the broad perspective of a general gastroenterologist with the technical expertise of an advanced endoscopist, allowing him to care for all patients with any gastrointestinal condition. He is deeply committed to building lasting relationships with patients. Dr. Rapaka believes in personalizing care to the needs of the individual person and respecting diverse backgrounds.
Outside of work, he values quality time with his wife, traveling and experiencing different cultures and cuisines of the world. Dr. Rapaka is also an avid San Antonio Spurs fan. As a proud San Antonio native, Dr. Rapaka is thrilled to offer his skills and knowledge to serve the community he calls home.
