FibroScan® is a new, FDA approved test used to assess liver damage through the use of an ultrasound probe. FibroScan® detects fibrosis or fatty deposits in your liver caused by chronic liver diseases such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and excessive alcohol consumption. FibroScan® is a non-invasive, painless alternative to a liver biopsy. The FibroScan® procedure takes approximately 10 minutes and after the test, patients can immediately return to normal activities.
