We are excited to welcome our newest provider to our practice – Dr. Abhishek Challa! Dr. Challa is practicing at our Westover Hills location.
Dr. Abhishek Challa was born and raised in India. He attended medical school there and moved to the United States in 2014 to continue his medical training. Dr. Challa has worked very closely with the Transplant Surgery Division at the University of Nebraska School of Medicine with a focus on small bowel transplants and short gut patients.
After completing an Internal Medicine Residency in New York, a Transplant Hepatology Fellowship in Nebraska, and a Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship in Kansas, Dr. Challa has decided to settle with his family in the San Antonio area. He enjoys all areas of gastroenterology but has a special interest in colon cancer screening (colonoscopy), capsule endoscopy, GERD, Barrett’s esophagus, constipation, IBS, and also taking care of patients with cirrhosis, alcoholic liver disease, hepatitis C and fatty liver disease.
When not practicing medicine, Dr. Challa can often be found spending time with his wife, taking trips for food-inspired travel, cooking, staying physically fit, and watching NFL. He is also an avid Messi fan.
