Delbert L. Chumley, M.D.
Born and raised in San Antonio, Dr. Chumley attended Central Catholic High School and has spent the last four decades in private practice. He continues to maintain a clinical faculty appointment of Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and has extensive experience in treating patients with all types of digestive disorders including Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, symptomatic hemorrhoids, and refractory gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Dr. Chumley has held several hospital and professional appointments and remains very active in organized medicine, legislative advocacy, and the development of medical education programs. In recent years, he has served as President of the Texas A&M Medical and Dental Society, President of the Bexar County Medical Society, President of the Texas Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy, and President of the American College of Gastroenterology. He and his wife of over 40 years, Louise, have remained active in community affairs supporting numerous nonprofit organizations including serving in the past as co-chairs for the American Cancer Society Cattle Barons Gala. Dr. Chumley presently serves on the Board of Directors for BioMed SA which focuses on the growth of biomedical research in San Antonio and as Administrative Liaison for the American College of Gastroenterology Board of Trustees. He and Louise are the proud parents of three adult children: Chris, Keith and Natalie.
